Meet the Red Ryders!
Meet our pack Llamas who are all ready for adventure, hiking and trekking trips here in the Flathead Valley of Montana.
Roman is a tall striking 4 year old gelded male that has a unique under bite; he got his name due to the ‘Roman nose’ he possess. A real character that loves to be the ‘acting boss’ of the herd. He is a wonderful walker that will give you a little nudge with that famous nose to let you know you might be going too slowly.
Bronto is the handsome boy of the herd. At just 2 years old he is still growing and has become the tallest on the farm. He is commonly known on our ranch as the ‘gentle giant.’ He looks and acts like a giant teddy bear and will provide a calm and inspiring walk.
Scout is the self-proclaimed ‘Alpha Male’ when in the pasture but loves to let you take the lead when being walked. He loves to be around people and gives hearty sniffs to greet you. Scout’s markings are very fun and very similar to Bronto’s which makes sense since they share the same sire.
Bridger was just a year old in 2021 and is a little charmer. His all white coat with a few flesh colored spots on his face are classic Ccara markings and make him very showy. He has a great disposition and loves to stand next to people, is cautiously welcoming and gets some of his shyness from his mother Kara.
Conquista is a 9 year old that is the real pro of the group and is always up for a hearty snack. Having logged many years as an experience backcountry packer he looks forward to strolls around the ranch but is always ready to go for a long backcountry trip when the opportunity arises.
Cash is the youngster of the male herd. You wouldn’t know he is only a year old based on his confidence and poise. Cash’s face is sweet and endearing, loves to take long walks and will tolerate hugs. His fiber is very long and curly making him a fun looking llama.
Clover is a Ccara llama that was born in 2020 just a couple of weeks before Bridger and was named for her birthday on St. Patrick’s Day! Her mother is Tiger Lilly and she is quite the little princess of the herd. She has the unique flesh colored little parenthesis shaped markings on each side of her cheeks; some people say it looks like she’s wearing blush.
Pippin is the old dame of the herd; she doesn’t tolerate nonsense and rules the roost with a stiff upper lip. She is a gentle walker but believes she is like the old school marm that needs to monitor the other llamas for good behavior. She is our oldest llama at 11 years of age in 2021.
Tiger Lilly is a graceful 3 year old Ccara that’s the mother of Clover and one of our first two llamas here at Red Ryder. Tiger is a wonderful caring mother for her cria (name for baby llamas) and will no doubt create another beautiful baby this spring.
Kara is a little saucy 3 year old Ccara llama. She and Tiger Lilly have been lifelong pasture mates since their birth and go hand in hand with their birthing and have raised their cria together. Kara is truly a great classic llama who this spring gave birth to our newest addition, Rocky.
Rocky is the newest addition to our farm and has turned out to be full of personality. His mission so far has been to keep his mother Kara on her toes as he seems to always be intent on creating some type of mischief.
